Nhà thờ Trà Kiệu (Trung tâm Thánh Mẫu Trà Kiệu)

Trà Kiệu is the Marian centre of the Diocese of Đà Nẵng, bound up with the apparition of Our Lady in 1885, whose 140th anniversary was celebrated in September 2025. The parish dates from around 1596, making it one of the oldest Catholic communities in central Vietnam, with about 3,800 faithful. The number of faithful quoted above comes from the 2015 diocesan directory.

The community goes back to the end of the sixteenth century, traditionally to 1596. In 1885, during the Văn Thân uprising, the faithful believed Our Lady appeared to protect them; from then on Trà Kiệu became a place of Marian pilgrimage. On 31 May 1971 Bishop Phêrô Maria Phạm Ngọc Chi named Trà Kiệu the Marian centre of the diocese; the pilgrimage gathering in honour of Our Lady of Trà Kiệu is held each year at the end of May, most recently in 2026.
