Privacy

GiaoXu.net does not need to know who you are. No ads, no cookies, no selling or sharing of data. We only count anonymously, to learn which pages help and what needs to get better.

Updated

What we count

  • Which pages are viewed — only the page address, never what you type into the search box.
  • Where you came from — only the domain of the previous site, for example facebook.com.
  • Browser and operating system, rounded screen size and browser language.
  • Country and province or city, estimated from a network address that is shortened before it leaves our server.
  • A few actions: tapping Directions, calling, subscribing to the Mass calendar, switching language, the number of search results (only as a group: 0, 1–5, 6+), and whether you allowed location — never with coordinates.
  • Page speed (Core Web Vitals) on a sample of visits: load time, delay when tapping, layout shift — measured numbers only, nothing else.

What we never collect

Cookies, long-lived identifiers, full IP addresses, what you type into the search box, location coordinates, names, emails or phone numbers.

Counting people without knowing who they are

To know how many people visited, the statistics server groups page views with a one-way hash that is renewed regularly. It contains no network address and cannot be linked to any name, email or account.

Where it is kept, and for how long

The figures live on an Umami statistics server that we run ourselves. Your browser only talks to GiaoXu.net, never to another analytics service. Detailed figures are kept for at most 13 months — enough to compare this year’s feasts with last year’s.

Others who may see a visit

  • The infrastructure provider that runs the website handles IP addresses to serve pages and keeps technical logs for a few days.
  • Maps load their images from OpenStreetMap, so its servers see your IP address when a map appears.
  • The Directions button opens Google Maps; from there, Google’s policy applies.
  • When you report an error or contribute, we keep the message and any contact details you choose to enter, plus a hashed IP address to stop spam.

Embeds on parish websites

The Mass-times box embedded on parish websites counts nothing at all.

Turn statistics off

If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we automatically do not count. With JavaScript turned off, nothing is sent either. You can also turn statistics off for this browser only:
